Product Notes

"The Beast Must Die is a British horror film where the audience is asked to guess a werewolf's identity, based on clues from the movie. Millionaire Tom Newcliffe (Calvin Lockhart) invites a group of people to spend some time in his rural English mansion, along with his wife Caroline (Marlene Clark) where he reveals that one of them is a werewolf and must be killed. The group consists of a disgraced diplomat Arthur Bennington (Charles Gray); Jan and Davina Gilmore (Michael Gambon and Ciaran Madden), a pianist and his ex-student, now his wife, Paul Foote (Tom Chadbon), an artist recently released from prison, and Professor Lundgren (Peter Cushing), an archaeologist. The guests are all subjected to tests to see if they might be a werewolf. The only way to determine the identity of a werewolf is for a combination of elements to occur at once - a full moon and the presence of wolfsbane pollen in the air. Several of the guests begin to be killed by a werewolf which makes Tom more obsessive in his hunt to find the killer werewolf. When Tom subjects the remaining group to one final test by placing a silver bullet in their mouths, he finds out the identity of the werewolf and is bitten and attacked by the werewolf. Tom then realizes he has inherited the creature's curse and does something drastic which will leave audiences stunned. A classic werewolf movie which will last throughout the ages and one not to be missed!
