商品詳細

Forbidden Colours - Live Bennett Session (EP) is Pascalito's third album as a singer-producer and first collaboration with his new international jazz ensemble Neostalgia, introducing pianist Luiz Simas, bassist Leco Reis (both Brazilian) and American drummer Conor Meehan. Recorded and filmed live without overdubs, the session was completed over one summer day at the Grammy Award-winning Bennett Studios, just outside of New York City, not long before Dae Bennett (Tony's son) closed his renowned facility after a long successful run. Like Pascalito's previous albums, "Forbidden Colours" showcases an eclectic and bilingual repertoire, taking the listener on a timeless musical journey filled with jazzy sophistication, cinematic atmosphere and heartfelt interpretations in both French and English. The opening track is an introspective yet swaying version of Charles Trenet's 1942 French classic "Que reste-t-il de nos amours" aka 'I wish you love'. The album then leaps forty years forward to introduce a hidden gem, the atmospheric "Forbidden Colours" written by the Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto and British singer David Sylvian for Nagisa Oshima's haunting film "Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence" released in 1983 (aka Furyo, starring David Bowie, Tom Conti and Sakamoto himself). The session continues with two original songs released on Pascalito's previous albums, 'Solestalgia' and 'La Pluie sur ta Peau', with new arrangements by Luiz Simas. "Solestalgia" is a warm fusion of flamenco, blues and samba, while "La Pluie sur ta Peau" (Rain on your Skin) is a sensual and "fervently romantic" (Jazz Times) bossa nova. The closing track is an intimate reading of Léo Ferre's 1969 melancholic anthem "Avec le Temps", a cherished song among female vocalists extraordinaires Dalida, Abbey Lincoln, Tessa Souter and Youn Sun Nah. Bonus DVD footage of the session captured by French Israeli cinematographer Arié Ohayon is available for viewing on Pascalito's website and Youtube channel (Pascaliot35).
