The definition of love, as described in the songs, has many meanings-- the admiration of nature, the passion for the landscapes of one's hometown, as well as the feelings shared by lovers in daily life. Moreover, the poetic texts of these art songs span fourteen centuries set to music by many phenomenal Chinese composers, who were influenced by Western music from the end of the nineteenth century until today.
